Galleon Embedded Computing is a leading provider of purpose built, rugged military computers, data recording, processing, and storage solutions to the prime contractors in the defense industry. Key customers include all the tier one integrators like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Airbus, Rheinmetall, Hensoldt, Leonardo, SAAB and Kongsberg, to name a few. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on CEO who can work both strategically on business and product level and be part of the dedicated management team running the day-to-day operations of the business unit. Galleon is part of Spectra Aerospace and Defense, a group of specialized Aerospace & Defense companies headquartered in Alpharetta, GA, USA.

The position will be based in Oslo, Norway, at Galleon’s main facility. Responsibilities will include strategic business development aligned with the Spectra Aerospace and Defense corporate structure as well as directing and coordinating all local business activities, including manufacturing, engineering, supply chain management, quality, and program management on all major programs. The position will require occasional travel and an ability to work collaboratively with the internal Galleon team, key Galleon customers, and the Spectra executive team. The position will report directly to Ray Munoz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Spectra.

Responsibilities:

  •  P&L responsibility for the Galleon group
  • Participate as active member of Spectra Executive Management team reporting to Spectra CEO
  • Strategic management of product- and business development for Galleon group
  • Oversight and overall responsibility for the business entities reporting to Galleon AS: Galleon GmbH in München (9 employees), Galleon LLC in Katy (6 employees), TX and Galleon Ltd in London (2 employees), collectively the “Galleon group”
  • Direct all activities of the local Galleon team of 40+ employees
  • Oversee and coordinate all local business functions including engineering, production, quality, supply chain, project and program management
  • Direct reports include Business Unit managers of the other Galleon offices as well as CTO, COO, Operations Manager, Quality Manager and Sales Manager.
  • Senior relationship manager for all major programs
  • Oversight of contracts, schedules and budgets for all major programs in coordination with sales, project and Finance teams
  • Develop and maintain key performance metrics as agreed by the Executive Management team
  • Active participation in all major Galleon bid and proposal activities, including cost and pricing development and analysis
  • Actively seek and capture follow-on and new opportunities with existing key customer accounts
  • Manage strategic partnerships for the Galleon group
  • Participate in and advice on M&A targets and possible Due Diligence processes

Experience/Background Required:

  • Relevant experience in Executive Management, Program Management and Operations Management in aerospace and defense segment
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering preferred
  • Master’s degree in engineering or business preferred
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with customer’s engineering, subcontracts, program management, and executive management organizations
  • Understanding of defense related technology
  • Understanding of and experience with all phases of mil/defense programs including design and development; Qual testing; SDRL’s; pilot production; rate production; and aftermarket support
  • Understanding of government contracting rules and requirements
  • Business development experience with major international aerospace and defense programs a plus
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with internal engineering, finance, QA, manufacturing, and supply chain cross-functional teams
  • Experience assembling and evaluating complex bids and proposals, including non-recurring engineering, qual test, and recurring manufacturing content
  • Experience developing and tracking key performance metrics
  • Ability to obtain a NATO security clearance is required
